Early careers

Taking responsibility as part of a team at internal and client meetings, during filings and hearings – not just in the ‘back-office’. We focus on giving you as much responsibility as possible, based on your contribution and appetite. We also try to assign every intern with a case which is ‘yours’, providing greater accountability and autonomy.

Working on a wide range of cases from large, complex cases to smaller ones; from investment cases to arbitrator mandates.

Working with different partners and specialist teams, rather than being assigned to just one, providing you with the breadth of experience you need.

Our international intern committee provides pro-active support from day one – An assigned committee in Geneva is responsible for proactively supporting interns, from welcome and induction onwards. The committee – made up of partners, counsel and associates – works hard to help all our interns to develop, including through regular intern meetings and internal training sessions from experienced associates and partners, as well as making themselves available to provide the support and guidance you need to make the most of your time at LALIVE.

Feedback – interns receive regular informal feedback and benefit from a more formal review at the end of their internship, conducted by a partner and associate who are able to provide real feedback and guidance.

Requirements & criteria

We welcome applications from bright and talented candidates demonstrating a keen interest in international arbitration, whether through academic studies or practical experience. You will have an outstanding academic record, and may be a recent graduate or already qualified in your home jurisdiction. An excellent command of English is a must, and fluency in other languages especially French, German and Spanish is of true benefit. You are motivated and curious, and keen to seize all opportunities to learn and excel.

Timings & deadlines

Unfortunately, with respect to work permits, we are only able to consider applications from candidates with a Swiss or EU passport, from countries which have a bilateral agreement with Switzerland or, in certain cases, who have completed a post-graduate programme in Switzerland.
